Tapping Into The Treasure of Mercy - Cool New Remix and Brief Notes

Treasure of Mercy 2015 Remix by Rob Lattin Music

About 8 years ago I recorded an acoustic guitar instrumental that had somewhat of a jazz "zing" to it. Although I wrote many blues, rock, horror, and 50's style rock songs on guitar, this one did not fit into any familiar category.

Fast forward to 2011. I re-recorded the acoustic guitar and thought "hey, I love to add an electric guitar solo." So I did.  Listening to the early tracks I easily say my influences: 1. Jimmy Page a la "Going to California" and 2 the style play of Mr Rory Gallagher, a major influence in my guitar playing.

I read every interview of Rory Gallagher, I studied everything he shared about his playing, his influences, his likes. I listened to interviews. I bought and watched and studied all the live performances, seeing him live in Chicago and personally meeting him as well. (I am not the only one in the family, by the way!)

Well, Rory was in my Top 10. And it shows in my acoustic playing. However, I love so many different types of styles and genres and artists and performers that it's hard to pin down the proverbial "this song sounds like X (name your rock guitarist here.)"

No, the song sounds like Rob Lattin, and I mean this humbly. Well, I took the song and added percussion (bongos, tamborine, shakers, etc.) and played a new bass line to it. Then I played a 60's style organ to it. Perhaps it added a touch of Paul Revere or even Steppenwolf to it.

An early version of this song was posted to Reverbnation and was taken down as I was remixing and remastering a new version of this song. The title? I named it  "The Treasure of Mercy".

See, this song is an instrumental, but is a Christian song because of the title. Folks, it goes a little deeper than that and if we were to sit down, you and me, over a cup of coffee, I'd explain it to you. Nevertheless, let's continue with this post  . . .

Funny, I submitted the song to a Christian music site which accepts all kinds of "Christian music" but mine was not accepted. Maybe because there is no singing? Why does there have to be singing?

Anyway, it's named "The Treasure of Mercy" after the true Treasure of Mercy - the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Mercy can be yours - just open the treasure chest. How do you open the treasure chest? With a key.

What is the key? Being penitent and asking for forgiveness for all the times you've offended God and hurt your neighbors. At the end of the 2006 song I recorded called "I'll Sing the Blues (No More)" I sing "Mercy can be yours". The new song continues this theme.

This song, this instrumental, takes over and conveys an auditory image of that mercy opening up and pouring out like a waterfall because of the sorrow of your sins and asking for repentance. The song is arranged in different stages (or verses, if you will) as if you are approaching the confessional with a contrite heart and the door of mercy opens up ending the verse in a happy note.

The solo shows the heart being converted and settled at rest. The bongos of the drums can simulate the heartbeat as well.

Anyway, I am not going to preach, just explain a few notes about this song and it's appropriateness.

You can download the song FREE at SoundCloud but please do me a favor of sharing that song with others and perhaps even this blog post. Thanks - Rob Lattin

Happy Birthday America: Pledge of Allegiance

Old Glory still flies over this broken nation of ours
OLD GLORY. May God Protect This Nation

JULY 4, 2015

Tearing down Confederate flags and raising "Rainbow" flags. True American citizens know that we have only one flag: OLD GLORY. This is the flag that represents the United States of America, a country allowed to come into existence and sustain itself under the protection of God.

Teach your children to say the Pledge of Allegiance every day after saying their morning prayers and you teach them to be model American citizens. When the flag is raised high on a Navy ship, know that your nation is being protected as well by our military servicemen. When it is raised high on flagpoles across the nation, understand that we are one nation with one common God.

To many, seeing a flag on a plane or ship or uniform brings tears to the eye, not that is causes disdain, but it causes love for the nation and a sense of national pride. Show off your national pride by reading aloud the following:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America,
and to the republic
for which it stands,
one nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Section 4 of the Flag Code states thus:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

GOD BLESS AMERICA

The Lullaby That Never Was

Hatred Begets Emptiness

A crib for there is no use . . .
Diapers that will not be sold . . .
Another empty desk at kindergarten . . .
No little cry in the night . . .
No happy splashing in the tub . . .
No hugs and kisses and . . .
no giggles and burps . . .
One less brother or sister or . . .
one less neighbor or friend . . .

An emptiness the world has never known;
A womb that was intentionally violated becoming a death chamber;
An evil the world has never witnessed;
The legal murder of an innocent unborn child

Abortion

There Is No Lullaby, The Music Box Was Broken

I've just finished mixing and mastering my next song "The Lullaby That Never Was." This song presents a wind up music box that is supposed to play a lullaby for a baby. However, because of an abortion, the baby is dead and the lullaby is no longer.

I tried to convey an image of a broken music box, attempting to wind it up and listen to it play but it keeps aborting. Then I go into the actual song.

A lullaby is to be soothing and happy. The mid-portion of the song is trying to express happiness at a new birth. Excitement breaks loose like a babe leaping in the womb.

Yet, that dreadful day comes and the song ends and the music box is broken. The happiness ceases and the baby is killed.

Throughout the song portion there is an undertone of sadness and sharp broken pieces played over the song to express this upcoming tragedy.

You Can't Cheat God

Abortion is the devil's way of thinking he can cheat God. You see, the devil knows that in most cases
that those not baptized will not see God and go to hell. So the evil one entices evil people to perform, march, and vote for total unrestricted abortion.

Why? The devil hates us ferociously and unceasingly. He wants all babies aborted and they are killed by the millions each year.

Well, those doing the killing and promoting of abortion will join the devil in hell if they do not repent. But the devil underestimates the goodness and mercy of God when it comes to the abortees.

The devil cannot trick God and through His mercy God will not unjustly condemn a person who wasn't even born. His mercy is infinitely good and His justice is absolutely right and as He Himself said "Let the children come to me."

The Body of Christ, His Church, prays for the innocent ones and desires that they are entrusted into His Love. The Holy Spirit, who is God, leads and guards the Church and will not act in contradiction to the will of the head of the Church, Christ. They are one and we should have some comfort that God will provide for the little ones who were snuffed from this life.

Their pain, torture and death does has some meaning for them. Woe to those who remain obstinate in
promoting the horror of killing your own baby. With that said, lives still need to be saved, as well as souls. Pray for the unborn who will suffer abortion, pray for the conversion of those evil abortion promoters and performers. Offer up your own sacrifice for a little baby who will be dismembered,
who is unloved, who is hated by our culture.

The American Life League has been fighting abortion for many years. Do your part and support them. Donate or help them in any way they can. Lives may depend on what you do or don't do.
